Countdown to Kickoff: MLS NEXT Fest Heats Up in Indio

The countdown is on as the soccer community turns its attention to Indio, California, for the fourth annual MLS NEXT Fest, taking place from December 6-11. Set against the iconic backdrop of the Empire Polo Ground, this year's event promises to be the most thrilling edition yet. With over 400 teams, 630 matches, and 7,000 young talents vying for glory, anticipation is reaching fever pitch.

For the first time, MLS NEXT Fest will feature a high-stakes qualification tournament for the prestigious 2025 Generation adidas Cup. The U16 and U18 age groups will battle it out in a single-elimination showdown. The top 16 teams from each age group, who earned their spots based on stellar fall performances, will compete for a ticket to the big stage. “The presentation of the Generation adidas Cup qualifiers at one of the largest events in North America will make this the most anticipated MLS NEXT Fest in our program’s history,” said MLS NEXT General Manager Kyle Albrecht. And he couldn’t be more right.

Teams to Watch: Stories of Glory and Dominance

Orlando City U18: The U18 scene buzzes with excitement around Orlando City, the only undefeated team in their age group. Facing LAFC (Dec 6), FC Cincinnati (Dec 7), and closing with LA Galaxy, their journey promises fierce matchups. Can they extend their unbeaten streak and cement their dominance to close out the year?

Philadelphia Union U16: Dubbed “BabySnakes”, the Union's U16 squad enters as Footy Access’s top-ranked team with 0 losses this season. They most recently defeated the New York Red Bulls 3-1 with a major performance from Malik Jakupovic bagging two goals. Matches against FC Dallas (Dec 8), Minnesota United (Dec 10), and Columbus Crew (Dec 11) will test their dominance. With their formidable form.

Miami Futbol Academy Rush U15: Also unbeaten this season, Miami Rush is a goal-scoring powerhouse. Their flawless October and relentless November performances, highlighted by wins over top Florida sides, set the stage for a thrilling showcase.

Michigan Wolves U17: The Wolves enter with a roar. Unbeaten in the MLS NEXT Flex tournament and boasting a rock-solid defense, they’ve allowed just three goals in November. Ryan Hickson, their star striker, is in red-hot form, with a five-goal blitz including a hat trick. Eyes will be glued to their journey.
