A Stellar Addition to the New York Red Bulls Academy

The story of Caleb Simmons is fascinating. In 2023, Simmons was part of the Hertha Berlin International Soccer Academy, a team that provides opportunities for several players born outside of Germany to train and play matches with the goal of becoming full-time players in the main academy.

Born in 2009, Caleb Simmons impressed the German coaches. However, due to not having access to an EU passport, he could only train until he turned 18. Consequently, they decided to return to the United States. Caleb received several offers from MLS and USL teams, but he recently made the decision to join the New York Red Bulls academy, considered one of the best in the entire country. Within two weeks with the team, he has already left a strong impression on his coaches and is being closely observed by national team coaches.

In terms of his playing style, Simmons operates as a central defender or defensive midfielder. Possessing good height and strength, he combines these physical attributes with excellent ball control and passing skills. His playing style is highly valued for his size, mobility, and exceptional technical ability, as well as his keen understanding of the game.

The weekend showcased action from some of the best teams, and as expected, they did not disappoint.

Los Angeles FC secured a 1-0 victory over Total Futbol Academy in the U-15 group, with Anthony Muñoz finding the net in the 69th minute. TFA entered the game with only one defeat this season, against Global Football Innovation Academy in the MLS Next Fest. LAFC delivered a weekend surprise by defeating one of the nation's top U-15 teams.

In the U-17 group, Los Angeles FC triumphed 3-0 over Total Futbol Academy, with goals from left-back Emir Ponciano in the 6th minute, Omar Mendoza in the 47th minute, and Joaquin Castro in the 84th minute.

Looking ahead, Los Angeles FC is set to visit the Seattle Sounders on February 24, followed by a clash against the Portland Timbers the next day.

The Portland Timbers showcased a stellar performance, defeating Real Salt Lake U-17 4-1. Forward Max Eisenberg stood out, scoring all four goals for Portland. Omar Marquez, U-16 national team forward, scored the sole goal for Real Salt Lake in the 29th minute when the score was 1-1.

Continuing their winning streak, the Portland Timbers' U-15 age group secured a 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake, with Miguel Castillo scoring in the 61st minute.

Chicago Fire U-15 continued their excellent form, defeating Minnesota United 5-1, and the next day, overpowering Shattuck-St. Mary's 7-0. In the first game, highly rated prospect Robert Turdean scored a brace, while Darris Hyte, Aman Alakhramsing, and Marko Colakovic added to the goal tally. Tim Dennis scored the lone goal for Minnesota United.

In the second game against Shattuck, Marko Colakovic scored a hat trick, while Kris Caravantes, Robert Turdean, Jesus Garcia, and Kasen Brandy also found the net.

A few days ago, it was announced that Philadelphia Union forward Jamir Johnson has joined the renowned agency CAA Stellar, which represents prospects such as Aidan Stokes, Jude Terry, and Zavier Gozo, among others.
