The group stages of the U-17 World Cup in Indonesia has concluded, and it's time to dissect how the United States and other advancing countries fared in the Round of 16.
The United States was placed in Group E alongside France, Burkina Faso, and the Republic of Korea. In their first match against Korea Republic, the young American team, led by Nimfasha Berchimas, secured a 3-1 victory. The second encounter against Burkina Faso saw a close battle, ending with a 2-1 win for the U.S., with Berchimas shining again. The final group game against France ended in a 3-0 defeat for the United States.
France are the ONLY team at the U-17 World Cup that hasn’t conceded a goal, they have 7 goals for and 0 against.
With two wins, France and the United States progressed to the Round of 16, leaving Burkina Faso and the Republic of Korea eliminated. The United States is now set to face Germany on November 21 for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Looking at other groups, Morocco and Ecuador advanced from Group A, while Spain and Mali moved on from Group B. In Group C, England and Brazil secured their spots, and in Group D, Argentina, Senegal, and Japan advanced. Group F saw Germany dominating, with Mexico and Venezuela also progressing.

Training Stints in Europe Shape Future Football Stars
Some noteworthy events that occurred this week include the boys from the Barca Academy of Arizona, Isaiah Kaakoush and Aidan Marquez, who traveled to Catalonia for training sessions at the prestigious La Masia. However, they were not the sole Americans to embark on a European journey. The North Carolina FC duo, Kyrome Lumsden and Nick Holliday, ventured to the Netherlands, specifically Eindhoven, for a training invitation with PSV.
