Rising Through the Ranks

Talented Charlotte FC player Nimfasha Berchimas has been called up to the U.S. Under-20 Men’s Youth National Team for the upcoming Concacaf Championship to be held in Mexico, seeking qualification for the U-20 World Cup.

At 16, Berchimas began the 2024 MLS season with the first team, becoming the first Charlotte FC academy player to make an appearance in MLS. He made three additional brief appearances with the first team. Currently, he continues his development with Charlotte FC's second team, Crown Legacy, where he has started twelve times, contributing three goals and one assist.

Berchimas has had an extensive career with the youth national team, starting from the U-15 team, playing in the prestigious Torneo delle Nazioni, where he participated in all four matches. He continued with the U-16 national team, participating in tournaments in Spain and Japan, standing out against older players.

His outstanding international performances earned him a call-up to the U-17 national team, where he was a key player in the U-17 World Cup, scoring three goals against South Korea and Burkina Faso.

In 2024, Nimfasha Berchimas received a call-up to the U-19 national team for a tour in South America, playing against Argentina and Uruguay, where he provided an assist in the first game and was highly regarded against older players.

Cavan Sullivan Scores His Second Goal as a Professional

Cavan Sullivan continues to impress. The offensive midfielder, born in 2009, managed to score his second consecutive goal as a professional. Sullivan's goal came in the 48th minute of the game. The 14-year-old attacker finished at the near post, becoming the youngest player to score two consecutive goals in MLS NEXT Pro.

In March 2024, Sullivan made his debut in MLS NEXT Pro with Philadelphia Union II, registering the assist for the winning goal and breaking a new record.

On May 9 of this year, Philadelphia Union signed midfielder Cavan Sullivan until the end of the 2028 season under the largest homegrown contract in MLS history, the club announced on Thursday.

Dual Nationals and FC Dallas U-18 Participate in Prestigious Liga BBVA MX Sub Internacional Tournament

As is an annual tradition for FC Dallas, the Texan team has begun its participation in the 2024 Liga BBVA MX International Youth Tournament with a 4-2 loss to Deportivo Cali. FC Dallas is the only U.S. team participating in this edition of the prestigious tournament in Mexico. The tournament, held at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento in Mexico City, will host the final at Estadio Azteca.

FC Dallas fell 4-2 in their first game against Deportivo Cali. The Colombian team opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a goal from Juan Arango. FC Dallas quickly equalized with a goal from Marlon Luccin in the 29th minute. Matías Orozco scored twice in the 40th and 43rd minutes to put Deportivo Cali ahead. Christopher Salazar scored a penalty in the 52nd minute, but Ronald Rodallega sealed the 4-2 final in the 57th minute.

The Mexico U-18 youth national team, also participating in this tournament, has called up a total of five U.S.-based players. Philadelphia Union U-17 top scorer Diego Rocío received another call-up after participating with the Mexico U-18 national youth team in recent months. Center-back José Magaña, who won the championship with LA Galaxy U-17, received his first call-up to the Mexico U-18 youth national team. He previously participated with the U.S. U-17 team. Making their first appearances are defensive midfielders Stiven Jiménez of FC Cincinnati and Sebastián Rodríguez of Houston Dynamo. Winger James Arteaga of LAFC returns to the Mexico U-18 youth national team.
