A Record that May Withstand the Test of Time for Generations to Come
Records are always meant to be broken, but we might have witnessed a record that may withstand the test of time for generations to come in American sports. In episode 4 of our 'Behind the Player' series, we got the exclusive opportunity to sit down and talk with Da'vian Kimbrough, as we break down his journey and how he represents a cultural shift in the way the U.S. approaches the development of its youth. While we will be discussing record breakers, we also take a look at an MLS youngster who is making a name for himself at the top level as well as transfers at the MLS NEXT level that are set to make shockwaves throughout the league.
Behind the Player - Davian Kimbrough
The fourth episode of 'Behind The Player' has arrived. We are pleased to announce that we had the privilege of meeting with Davian Kimbrough, the youngest player in history to debut professionally in the United States.
The "Behind the Player" series is dedicated to highlighting young emerging talents, delving into their backgrounds, and exploring the factors that have propelled them to their current positions at such a young age.
On August 8, 2023, Davian Kimbrough signed a professional contract with Sacramento Republic FC of the USL Championship, at the age of 13 years, 5 months, and 13 days, becoming the youngest professional athlete in the history of American sport on October 1, 2023 he made his professional debut, coming on as a substitute against the Las Vegas Lights, becoming the youngest player to appear in an American team sport at the age of 13 years, seven months and 13 days.
With Mexican heritage, Kimbrough's talent has transcended the national level. He has been called up to the Mexico U-15 and U-16 national teams for national camps and international tournaments on numerous occasions. His participation in the Football Federations Cup where he faced Finland, Spain, and Saudi Arabia is one of the highlights of his young career as he managed to score four goals in three games.
His early rise to professionalism, his current career in his youth years, and the exceptional talent that he has demonstrated so far goes to show that he has the world at his feet with an enormous future ahead of him.
New York Red Bulls Golden Boy Gets His Wings
Julian Hall on Saturday became the third-youngest player in MLS history to record an assist. He is also the youngest player in New York Red Bulls history to assist a goal. Julian Hall intercepted the ball, sliding it into the six-yard box for Manoel, who beat goalkeeper Brad Guzan from the center of the box.
"I always try to come in and make an impact”
“My main goal is to try to help the team. Try to get a win or that last goal that we need to keep fighting and try to make an impact every time I come in."
Julian Hall had contributed a goal two rounds earlier after converting in the game against Sporting Kansas City taking his numbers now to ten MLS appearances with two goals and one assist.
As far as MLS NEXT Pro is concerned, Julian Hall has made sixteen appearances with six goals and one assist. It should be noted that Hall has only been signed as a professional for a year
FC Cincinnati Secure West Coast Youth Sensation
On Friday, and exclusively via Footy Access, it was revealed that highly-rated prospect Ademar Chavez has joined the FC Cincinnati academy after his time at the LAFC academy.
Chavez, a dual Mexican-American national, has been one of the top players in the 2009 age group and his strong performances at the club and international level representing Mexico have marked him as a top prospect.
FC Cincinnati has made a strong move this season in academy moves. Notably, former Orlando City forward Brandon Kristel and defender Andrei Chirila who spent his final season with the Philadelphia Union have recently joined FC Cincinnati.
Another top prospect has also joined the Ohio team's academy. Joshua Jimenez, born in 2010 and recently called up to a U-17 national camp with Guatemala has joined FC Cincinnati from the New York Red Bulls academy.
Jimenez has stood out as one of the best holding midfielders in his age group and has been a key player for the Red Bulls last season.
